PRESS RELEASE
RIYL: Classic Country, Americana, Honky-Tonk, Dwight Yoakam, Mark Chesnutt, Billy Strings, Mumford and Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Country Side of Harmonica Sam, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Ray Price, Buck Owens
The Sundown Trace album was inspired by great Honky-Tonk artists like Ray Price, Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam. And some great guest musicians helped make it a reality. First off, 6-time Fiddle Player of the Year, Jason Carter, veteran of the legendary Del McCoury Bluegrass Band; on pedal steel, the album features Dan Dugmore, veteran of Linda Ronstadt’s and James Taylor’s great bands, and Buck Reid, of Lyle Lovett’s notorious Large Band; and finally, 2011 Banjo Player of the year, Ron Stewart, who has played with such luminaries as Curly Seckler, Gary Brewer, J.D. Crowe, Dan Tyminski, and currently with Seldom Scene.
About Ted Silar
In my time, I’ve played a wide variety of music in a wide variety of venues: I’ve played rock ‘n’ roll at high school hops, blues in Texas roadhouses, country in rural fire halls, jazz piano in smoky cocktail lounges. In my youth, I even sang Bach in Saxony and twelve-tone music a cappella. (The Beatles are not the only ones who tried their hands at a lot of different styles.) In my time, I’ve written rock ‘n’ roll, classical, jazz, rhythm and blues. The Sundown Trace album is my second album in a Honky-Tonk Country style (the first was Last Rose). Honky-tonk is getting to be a habit with me. I mean, how could I pass up playing with those fantastic country musicians?
